Infiniti teases the Q30 compact with new image image

The release of the production series Q30 compact car from Infiniti has been growing rather long in the tooth and we’re almost out of patience – luckily we’re pretty darn sure the model will be finally officially introduced during the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt.

To make sure we’re not growing tired of them, Infiniti has dropped a new image with the anticipated compact model to get the hype up a little before the reveal in front of the public in Frankfurt come mid-September. So, sharing with us this picture of the model is no surprise, and the same can be said about the fact that seeing it from the side allows us to understand that nothing has changed from the concept that had its premiere two years ago and using the same venue. And that makes us wonder why did they take so long to introduce the production version. Maybe that has something to do with the factory in Mexico constructed under the joint venture with Daimelr’s Mercedes-Benz still not being finished and ready to handle its production for the North American market.

Anyways, for the Europeans that’s not a concern, since the compact that uses plenty of technical goodies from Mercedes-Benz, the third largest luxury automaker in the world, will be produced on site in the United Kingdom. The plant in charge will be Nissan’s Sunderland assembly facility, which is coincidentally the biggest automotive production site in the country. There it will share the production lines with the QX30 crossover and use a 2.2-liter Mercedes-Benz engine with 170 PS (125 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), sending power to the wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed automatic transmission.
