Automakers are now looking to snatch some prime-time before the lights go off on the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, with Infiniti for example already showcasing parts of the new Q Inspiration concept.
[Update] The company has revealed on the eve of the Detroit event the full looks of its preview for the upcoming styling language and also its forward-thinking next generation flagship sedan, and we have the updated gallery.
The latest teaser arriving from the Japanese automaker is not only bringing forth the final name for the model – designated Q Inspiration – but also showcases the entire back side of the showcar that’s set to debut later this month during NAIAS in order to preview the company’s upcoming design language along with the introduction of a new flagship sedan model. “We aim to take traditional sedan architecture to its next stage of evolution,” Karim Habib, Infiniti Design Director, said in the press release for the teaser. “The Q Inspiration offers an alternative form; something more flowing in appearance with an unusually long and balanced cabin. Experimenting with new proportions in a typically conservative segment, the Q Inspiration features a shorter hood and elongated body, with all the benefits to interior well-being, comfort, and space that this layout entails.”
The Q Inspiration arrives with a minimalist, flowing design language with an elongated, streaming water-like roof and massive fenders. The rear is also host to the latest trend in the automotive world – the wraparound taillights that cross the entire rear width of the car. Infiniti hasn’t released any additional details about the upcoming concept, especially when it comes to engine options, but the official also teased “a shift toward smarter, more compact, and less intrusive powertrains.”
