The North American based automaker Chevrolet has officially announced that the Sonic RS, or Aveo as it is known in Europe, will be officially presented at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.
As you can see from the images posted below and also as the automaker is saying, the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic RS has a new front fascia with new fog lamp design, new RS specific front grille, new rear fascia, new rear spoiler, new rocker moldings, unique mirror cap finish, retuned sport exhaust with chrome outlet, unique 17 inch five-spoke wheel design, lowered and stiffened suspension with performance-tuned dampers and RS badging.
“The Sonic RS remains true to the progressive spirit of the concept and brings an unmistakable attitude to the segment. From every angle and every touch point, it is a car that is unbashed in its performance statement – and one that drivers Chevrolet’s performance legacy into its second century”, said the design director for the Sonic, John Mack.
The Chevrolet Sonic RS is powered by a standard 1.4 liter turbo Ecotec engine which is developing 138 horsepower and has a peak torque of 148 lb-ft (200 Nm), being mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. As for the interior, the new Sonic RS comes with new front sport seats, new sport steering wheel, new shifter knob, new aluminum sport pedals, specific instrument panel clusters graphics and RS specific interior trim, along many other things.
