Following a lengthy teaser campaign, the Italians from Italdesign have finally revealed their Geneva Motor Show entry in the supercar sweepstakes. And it’s a prime contender with its V10 engine.
While the designer house is a regular at the Geneva Motor Show, we were usually accustomed to one-off concepts – but happily on this occasion the supercar is not just for the show – as it will belong to their newly released Automobili Speciali brand. The supercar will be limited to a very exclusive production of just five examples, with all units using a body constructed entirely out of carbon fiber. The aggressive design will be housed on a modular chassis built from a combination of aluminum and again carbon fiber that will keep the weight in check. Breathing “fire” through the exhaust will be a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine most likely snatched from the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Huracan.
There are no fact figures yet, but the supercar from Ingolstadt in V10 Plus coat and the Sant’Agata Bolognese bull have 610 horsepower (449 kilowatts) and 560 Newton-meters (413 pound-feet) on tap. Italdesign did say its newest creation will sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in a mere 3.2 seconds on its way to the 205 mph (330 kph) top speed. After the Geneva premiere the car will start manufacturing duties in Turin, Italy at the company’s plant in Moncalieri.
