Italdesign teases about something shiny coming to the Geneva Motor Show image

The Italian Design house has become a wholly owned VW subsidiary and we’re keeping our fingers crossed about them not turning into another case of Xerox designers.

They seem to remain on the same enlightened path as before because last year during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show the amazed everyone with the GTZero electric shooting brake concept. Now we’re keeping our hopes up as another edition of the Swiss event approaches and judging by the two teaser images shown until now we could be getting another electrified concept. The second teaser photo meanwhile is talking about something else – seemingly providing a first glimpse of what may be the car’s high-tech headlights featuring a hexagonal shape. The front lighting clusters seem to use LEDs and we might even see Audi’s laser technology.

The teaser also has an embedded message: “This year we will shine a light on 5 special stories. For 5 visionary collectors.” This could be a hint towards a very exclusive production of the upcoming Geneva model, catering for just five clients. By the way, not long ago Italdesign’s CEO, Joerg Astalosch, revealed to the media the design house plans to cooperate with automakers – likely VW’s brands – to deliver bespoke models, “from one to below 100 units.” All answers will be given soon when the 87th Geneva Motor Show will kick off with the media previews on March 7.
