Italy: New car sales down 15.3 percent in December image

New car sales in Italy fell by 15.30 percent in December to 111, 211 vehicles compared to the same month a year ago when there were sold 131.298 vehicles, the Italian Minister of Transportation on Monday said.

In addition, for the entire year, in Italy there were sold 1.748 million vehicles, down 10.8 percent compared to 2010.

Fiat, the largest automaker in the country has sold 22.758 vehicles in December, down 22,5 percent. Volkswagen sold 9.267 vehicles sold, up 2,16 percent compared to the same period of 2010, while Opel was the third automaker with 8.043 vehicles — down 22,83 percent.
