Famous British radio and television producer and businessman Chris Evans is the new Top Gear UK lead presenter, as BBC has officially announced.
After Jeremy Clarkson’s fracas, the faith of the most popular car show on the globe remained into the shadows, especially after James May and Richard Hammond refused to sign a new deal, despite the number talked about was in the range of millions of pounds but the trio still got together recently and finished filming the remaining episodes of the latest season and now Jezza’s role has been taken over by Chris Evans.
“I’m thrilled, Top Gear is my favorite program of all time. Created by a host of brilliant minds who love cars and understand how to make the massively complicated come across as fun, devil-may-care and effortless. When in fact of course, it’s anything but and that’s the genius of Top Gear’s global success. I promise I will do everything I possibly can to respect what has gone on before and take the show forward”, said Chris Evans in an official press release signed by BBC.
We are not sure at this time who the other two co-presenters will be because the TV station didn’t say anything on this topic. We have no clue if the current format of the show will be maintained either but we will be finding out most likely this autumn, when Top Gear is expected to be back on the main screen with a new season. BBC says that the new series of Top Gear will start filming over the next few weeks.
