Lamborghini has officially announced its plans to offer a production version of the Urus Concept which will be put together in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
Lamborghini has officially put a stop to rumors on the development of the SUV by officially announcing its plans to offer a production version of the model which will be assembled in Sant’Agata Bolognese, after the car manufacturer has come to an agreement with the Italian government.
“This is a proud moment for everybody in Lamborghini. The introduction of a third model line endorses the stable and sustainable growth of the company and signifies for us the beginning of a new era. The new SUV will be made in Sant’Agata Bolognese, demonstrating our commitment to safeguarding the values of ‘Made in Italy’ worldwide”, said Stephan Winkelmann, the Lamborghini President and CEO.
The brand new Lamborghini SUV will be based on the Urus Concept and it will be aimed towards customers in the Middle East, in Russia, China, Germany and the United Kingdom and it will be launched in 2018. The car manufacturer is expected to sell 3,000 units annually of the Urus which should be sharing the same MLB platform with the Audi Q7, the Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne. The vehicle is believed to get a completely different design than the concept car and it will be more luxurious than the aforementioned models, which will be translated into its price.
