The next generation of the Skoda Octavia will be officially presented to the public in November and the model will go on sale in early 2013.
After the 2013 Skoda Octavia has leaked just a few weeks ago during a presentation for the Rapid, the model is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time by the Volkswagen Group officials who have announced during the 2012 Moscow Motor Show that the new generation of the Octavia will make its world debut in November.
The 2013 Skoda Octavia will be the third model to be developed on the MQB modular platform made by VW, after the new Audi A3 generation, the Seat Leon and the new generation of the Volkswagen Golf, which will be officially revealed on the 4th of September in Berlin. Thanks to the MQB platform, the next-gen Skoda Octavia is expected to weigh less, despite its larger size, which will be approximately 4.8 meters in length so that the Rapid will establish its place in the lineup.
Under the hood, the next generation of the Skoda Octavia is expected to carry over the same engine lineup as new VW Golf so we expect to see the 1.4 liter TSI gasoline unit with cylinder deactivation system or the 1.6 liter TDI diesel. A hot version of the Octavia, the vRS, is also expected to make its way onto the market, and this might use the 2.0 liter turbocharged EA888 engine, the same one from the future Golf GTI and Golf R.
