Jaguar is planning to expand the production of the XKR-S GT to a total of 50, from the initial number of 30 units.
According to the company’s chief, Adrian Hallmark, the Jaguar XKR-S GT production can be expanded by an extra 20, if the demand is high enough. The announcement has been made just a day after the model has been unveiled during the 2013 New York Auto Show.
“It is possible the production run will reach 50″ and “the initial cap was set to define the business case but, thankfully, there is room for more”, as Adrian Hallmark said.
As a quick reminder, the Jaguar XKR-S GT is powered by a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine, which is producing a total output of 550 HP (404 kW), and it has a peak torque of 680 Nm (501 lb-ft), mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, sending the power to the rear-wheel drive through an active electronic differential. The 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint is done in 3.9 seconds and top speed has been electronically limited to 186 mph (299 km/h). The starting price for the XKR-S GT has been set at 174,895 USD.
