Jaguar is planning to officially introduce its first ever SUV, which is currently known as the C-X17, sometimes of the next couple of years, as the model in question will get the same architecture as the XE.
Jaguar’s first ever SUV has started its journey from a simple idea a few years ago and it was already shown as a concept car last year, after it was brought to several important automotive events throughout the globe. The Jaguar X-C17, in its final production version, will be challenging models such as the Porsche Macan and it will get the same aluminum architecture as the new XE compact sedan, which is the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4 fighter.
The Jaguar SUV will get wider tracks, a longer wheelbase and an extended rear overhang once it will go official but the company is currently hiding it under the new baby Discovery, which is a much smaller vehicle. The new Jaguar C-X17, which is known internally as a “sports crossover” is believed to boost the company’s annual sales into six figures in short term and, in medium term, beyond the 200,000 units annually mark. The concept C-X17 was riding on the same XE platform.
