The Jaguar XE will be the company’s first model to be produced in China, as the carmaker has recently announced.
The recently unveiled Jaguar XE is a rival for the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Cadillac ATS and so on and it is now getting ready to conquer the biggest market on earth, China. The model in question will be the first Jaguar vehicle to be produced in the Asian country, but this cannot be said on the JLR too, because the company is already assembling the Range Rover Evoque over there, since October, and it will be joined by the new Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The assembly plant in which the new Jaguar XE will be put together in China is in Changshu and this is part of Jaguar’s ambitious expansion plants which include the launch of at least three new models or revised ones by 2016. Sales of the XE in Europe will begin in May 2015 and these will be followed by the new generation of its larger brother, the XF sedan. A midsize crossover is expected in a couple of years too. Regarding the Chinese XE, we are not sure whether this will be different than the European one, at the time.
