Jaguar XE SVR planned, rivals BMW M3 image

JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team is planning to introduce a top of the line version of the upcoming Jaguar XE, the XE SVR, a performance sedan.

Jaguar’s BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Cadillac ATS and so on rival, the XE, is just around the corner and it should be unveiled at the beginning of September, with its public debut announced for the 2014 Paris Motor Show, one month later. But with the above models having a performance version, such as the M3, the C63 AMG, the RS4 or the ATS-V, Jaguar couldn’t stay aside from this segment and it will be producing its very own XE SVR.

The announcement hasn’t been made official but according to a report published by Auto Express, the model in question will be coming with a lower suspension system which will also be stiffer, with larger brakes, an electronically controlled limited slip differential, a full aerodynamic body kit, an active exhaust system and larger wheels. Power is expected to be provided by a 5.0 liter V8 engine, from the Jaguar F-Type S, producing 489 HP (364 kW) and connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The sports sedan should be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately 4 seconds before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The model should be introduced in 2016.
