Jaguar XKR-S Convertible going to L.A. Auto Show image

After Jaguar and Land Rover have joined forces in what can be named only an effort to cut down some costs in order to increase the profit, the British based automaker Jaguar has announced its presence at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, which will officially open its gates next week, with the convertible version of its most powerful model yet, the XKR-S.

According to the British based automaker, the XKR-S Convertible will be officially shown at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, after the model has already been spied on the Nurburgring earlier this year, and the vehicle is expected to be powered by the same engine, while being fitted with an aggressive body kit.

“Jaguar Land Rover is proud to be demonstrating for the U.S. market the latest design and technology advancements we have made with both brands. Our presence here reflects the fact that the U.S. is an important market for our global growth plans, and Southern California is a key region from a business and a global trends perspective”, said the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, Dr. Ralf Speth.

As we said above, the drop-top version of the XKR-S is expected to be powered by the same 5.0 liter V8 engine as the coupe, which is developing a total output of 542 horsepower and has a peak torque of 680 Nm (501 lb-ft), with the 0 to 60 mph acceleration being done in less than 4.5 seconds.
