The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 used in the James Bond films “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball,” sold for $4.6 million including commission at the RM Auctions Automobiles of London auction today.
Over 100 motor cars were auctioned, including the original Aston Martin DB5 driven by Sean Connery as James Bond.
However, pre-sale estimates ran as high as about $5 million.
Harry Yeaggy, the new owener said: “This is a car that I had always coveted. This is the most famous cars in the world. My plan is to showcase this car in my private car museum in Ohio as they are”.
As part of the deal, the new Aston owner also gets their hands on a £40,000 trip to the Carribean island where Ian Fleming wrote the James Bond novels and £30,000 worth of fabric to be made into a custom suit by Gieves & Hawkes of No.1 Savile Row – the tailors used for Sean Connery’s Bond.
