The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said Friday that automobile production in March 2012 was recorded as 984, 567 units – an increase of 580,630 units or 243.7 percent compared to March 2011.
On the same time, JAMA reports that for the Fiscal Year 2011 (April 2011 – March 2012) there were 9,267,037 vehicles produced – up 3 percent.
Domestic sales for Fiscal Year 2011 stood at 4,753,273 vehicles. Compared with the 4,601,135 units total recorded for the previous year, this is an increase of 3.3% and production increase after last year’s downturn.
In March, automobile export was recorded as 432,047 units. Compared with the 312,478 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 119,569 units or 38.3%, and export increase on the same month of the previous year for three consecutive months.
