The well-known US comedian is a huge Porsche fan, reportedly owning at least 49 cars from the Stuttgart-based automaker. Now, Seinfeld has been spotted riding the company’s latest and greatest, the 918 Spyder.
The latest supercar has been reported far and wide by the German sports car maker as a true miracle of modern technology, offering unparalleled performance and incredible fuel economy thanks to the gas-electric hybrid power setup.
So, no wonder Seinfeld decided his garages need the new thoroughbred and it was only a “short” matter of time before we – the mundane – got a chance to see him driving the 918 Spyder. He was spotted doing chores in his new acquisition, as he was caught taking it at the Malibu Country Mart.
As for the love affair he has with cars, here’s what he had to say about the accident last month when a woman backed her BMW into one of his prized possessions – a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR.
“I was sitting on a bench, having coffee with a friend,” he told the New York Post. “My car was parked directly across the street. We then watched as a middle-aged woman pulled in front of my car, put her car in reverse and drove straight back into my car, smashing and damaging it. We could hear the sound of metal crunching — rare, classic, expensive, vintage metal, by the way — from across the street. A sickening sound to a car person.”
As for his new ride, Porsche unveiled the model not long ago – Seinfeld was one of those signing up early so he got it right after the launch – and it has been designed as a direct rival to the McLaren P1: 886 hp are made via an 4.6-liter V8 and two electric motors, enough to reach 62 mph in 2,6 seconds.
