The increasing demand for the Range Rover Evoque determines Jaguar Land Rover to invest extra £1 billion with the UK suppliers in the following four years.
In March 2011 JLR awarded more than 40 UK suppliers £2 billion supply contracts, now increasing the value with extra £1 billion. The UK suppliers offer facilities, components and services to support production of the Range Rover Evoque at Halewood on Merseyside. The company also declared that it will open this summer a new logistics facility in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, to help global sales success of both Land Rover Freelander 2 and Range Rover Evoque.
“Today’s announcements demonstrate JLR’s strong products and clear ambition for continued growth. The demand we have seen across the globe for the Range Rover Evoque means we are able to significantly increase what we spend with our suppliers, which is great news for the UK economy, and the thousands of jobs JLR supports in its supply chain,” said Dr Ralf Speth, CEO Jaguar Land Rover.
DHL, JLR’s logistics providers, will be the one to manage the logistics facility, enhancing operations at the JLR’s Halewood plant offering 300 new jobs. DHL declared they are delighted to take part at JLR’s expansion plans, as this new facility will enhance the company’s plan for development and future access in the UK’s North West region.
