And no, the local drug cartels have nothing to do with it, I think!
Mexico is a country of extremes, you have your middle class, the poor farmers and the wealthy drug lords. Usually news from this part of the world are using the word “sicario” a lot but this is actually car-related, sort of. The vehicle pictured below is a brand new BMW i8 and it has been flipped over by an automotive journalist who lost control of the wheel. We’re not sure how the incident happened but judging by the girl who is smiling at what we believe to be the driver, we can say that he escaped uninjured, except for his ego, of course.
The photos have been provided by Wrecked Exotics but if you happen to know more about the crash, please feel free to share. Meanwhile, we will remind you that the BMW i8 has been truly revolutionary for the Bavarian based automaker. The model is making use of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, made out of a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. The total output sent to the wheels stands at 362 HP (266 kW) and this is enough to allow the “green” sports car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.4 seconds and to go up to a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The average fuel consumption in the BMW i8 is just 2.1L / 100km (134.5 mpg UK / 112 mpg US).
