A 35 year old journalist has been killed while traveling as a passenger in an Ariel Atom 3, after the driver crashed the vehicle.
Even if this isn’t the first time when someone who is taking a powerful car for a test drive ends up crashing the vehicle, this news is actually quite sad because a man was killed in the incident. According to the guys at autoblog.nl, a 35 year old journalist, named Michael Cornette, was recently killed while traveling as a passenger in an Ariel Atom 3. Our source is also saying that the driver of the vehicle, 30 year old Matthieu Desmet, has been “using” excessive speed and after he lost control of the lightweight track car, he has hit a grain silo.
Michael Cornette has been killed instantly in the impact and the Ariel Atom 3 driver, Matthieu Desmet, has been placed in an induced coma after suffering severe kidney damage. The force of the accident was so great that the silo was moved 10 inches. The guys at autoblog.nl are saying that the traffic accident has happened in Harelbeke, Belgium, when the two of them were road testing the Ariel Atom 3 in the run up to the Brussels Motor Show, which will officially open its gates later this month.
