The South Korean based automaker Kia is planning to introduce a production version of the GT Concept.
After it was officially presented to the public, in a world premiere, almost two years ago, back in 2011, during the Frankfurt Motor Show, the impressive Kia GT Concept is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with a rumor, which is saying that the model might hit the production line. The announcement hasn’t been made officially by Kia but according to the guys at Car and Driver, the model is heading towards the production.
If it will indeed make its way into production, the Kia GT will ride on a shortened version of the platform underpinning the K9 flagship, which is a rear-wheel drive platform. The Kia GT, in its final shape, should be motivated by a 3.8 liter MPI V6 engine, which is producing a total output of 290 HP (213 kW) and by a 3.8 liter GDI V6, with 334 HP (246 kW). The concept car was powered by a 3.3 liter V6 with 395 HP (290 kW) and 534 Nm of torque (394 lb-ft). The unit was mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear-wheel drive.
