Kia’s newest creation is named the Optima T-Hybrid and it is a concept car which will be officially presented to the public in a few days, during the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
The Kia Optima T-Hybrid is previewing a future production vehicle and it has been equipped with an electric supercharged to the CRDi engine, which is bringing increased power and torque, regardless of the unit’s speed and it can boost torque at low engine speeds. An increased power by 15-20 percent has been estimated by the car manufacturer, along with a reduction in the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
The one-off vehicle is taking its power from the familiar 1.7 liter CRDi turbo diesel engine, which is working together with a small electric motor and a 48V lead carbon battery. The model can be driven on electric power alone at low speeds and during decelerations, the energy is used to recharge the battery pack. Kia hasn’t provided any performance specifications on the new Optima T-Hybrid Concept so these numbers will most likely be made public at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, which will officially open its gates for the media on Thursday, the 2nd of October.
