Kia releases first official photos with the Sportage image

The South Korean brand has decided to cut the seamlessly never-ending string of spy shots and leaks by officially introducing the 2016 Kia Sportage with the first batch of pictures.

The fourth generation sport utility vehicle comes only with a few exterior images and will make its global public debut during the Germany, with assistance from the other centers in Namyang, Korea and Irvine, California. The styling is not overly dramatic nor a complete departure from the previous generation, but it is said to have been inspired by the “contrast of smooth and sharp shapes found on some of the most iconic modern fighter jets.” Anyways, there will be many to argue about the front fascia’s LED projectors embedded in the front bumper. We can also see how the headlamps have been taken out of the grille and now feature a sweptback style. The front fascia is also dominated by the presence of the two grilles, which are designed to predict a bold stance.

With the side very reminiscent of the previous generation, the back comes with more ample – though equally subtle modifications – and seems to have the taillights inspired by the Kia Provo Concept from 2013. Meanwhile, the turn and reverse lights have been completely separated and sit very low, embedded in the rear bumper. We saw no images with the interior, so it’s still anyone’s guess as to what changes have been made and technical specifications have also been retained at the moment, but we do expect them sooner than later and could highlight the kinship to the already introduced Hyundai Tucson.
