The South Korean unit of the automaker decided it was time to see some pictures with the local K7 – Cadenza for international markets – wearing its metal outside on the streets.
Both Hyundai and its sibling Kia are looking to escape the affordable image they managed to create over the years moving up further upscale and beginning to establish a corporate premium identity. Models such as the upcoming ones from the Genesis luxury brand or the top roster at Kia will come to support the claims and the K7 / Cadenza seems to be a step in the right direction. We are treated here to a more angular design and there’s also a modern interpretation of the corporate “tiger nose” grille – Kia bills the K7 / Cadenza as an all-new model with design inspiration taken from the crop of European luxury limousines. LED technology adorns the lights both front and back and the rear end looks dynamic enough thanks to the dual exhaust tailpipe setup – complete with chrome surround.
The new K7 premiered at home in South Korea last November but the automaker has been rather restrained when it comes to the model’s juicy details – though we know the model will also make use of the newly developed turbo 3.3-liter that under the hood of the Genesis G90 sports 65 horsepower and 377 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. We still haven’t seen the interior in real life conditions so most likely the K7 / Cadenza will return to reveal its last secret sooner or later.
