Kia starts producing the Soul EV image

The South Korean based automaker Kia has announced the production start of the new Soul EV.

The new Kia Soul EV has recently hit the production line as the company has announced. The model in question has an eccentric body shell and it will come, in the entry-level version, with LED lights, with a 3.5-inch OLED instrument cluster, an 8-inch multimedia system, satellite navigation, 16-inch alloy wheels, covered in Super Low Rolling Resistance tires and some other tweaks. The pure electric drive vehicle has a 212 km (131 miles) range on the Old Continent and this cannot be achieved by any electric vehicle in its class.

Power is being provided by an electric motor which is generating a total output of 109 HP (81 kW) and it has a peak torque of 285 Nm (210 lb-ft). The unit is connected to a single speed constant ratio transmission which is sending power to the front-wheel drive. There is a 27 kWh lithium-ion battery providing the juice which can be recharged in 5 hours from a 240 volt outlet or in 8 hours from a 110 volt plug. No official pricing details have been announced for the Kia Soul EV yet, in Europe.
