A special Kia Sportage will make its appearance during next month on the Australian Open, as a promo for the upcoming X-Men movie.
Kia have decided to celebrate the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse by launching a special tailored version of its 2015 Sportage CUV. If the new movie hits the theaters in May, the themed dressed Sportage will be shown to the public next month at the Australian Open, a tennis tournament sponsored by Kia. The X-Car original design draws its inspiration from the Mystique character, the supervillain who can mimic the appearance and voice of any person with precision. Her natural appearance includes blue skin, therefore the bodywork of the car is covered in a special blue paint which resembles Mystique’s appearance. The crossover also has a two-tone roof, and an “X” emblem on the grille and the tailgate. The Sportage X-Men style will appear in a special video on January 4th alongside Rafael Nadal, in which the tennis champion is fighting villain Apocalypse helped by the special Kia car. This is not Kia’s X-Men first dressed up car, as a Wolverine-inspired Sorento was also displayed on the last Australian Open edition, back in January 2015.
The brand new 2017 Sportage arrived in September this year and also came with the upscale specification GT Line model. Engines on the compact SUV’s family start with a naturally aspirated petrol 1.6-liter with 132 PS & 161 Nm or a 1.7-liter CRDi turbodiesel outputting 115 PS. There’s also a more powerful 2.0-liter diesel churning out 136 PS & 373 Nm or 184 PS & 400 Nm. The GT Line version comes exclusively with the 4-cylinder 1.6-liter 177 PS turbo.
