Being a basketball player in the NBA has its ups and downs but mostly ups and money become a problem only when you don’t know on what to spend them. This is the case of the famous Kobe Bryant, who has recently bought himself a new “toy”, a Ferrari 458 Italia, on which he paid more than 100,000 USD over the supercar’s suggested retail price, to a total of 329,000 USD, which is translated into 247,000 euros at the current exchange rates.
As a small reminder, the Ferrari 458 Italia is a mid-engined sports car which is replacing the old Ferrari F430. The 458 Italia was officially presented to the public back in 2009, at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it’s powered by a 4.5 liter V8 engine, also shared with Maserati, which is producing a total output of 562 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and it has a peak torque of 540 Nm available at 6,000 rpm. 80 percent of its torque is available from 3,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and the Ferrari 458 Italia has been designed by Pininfarina.
