Koenigsegg Regera to be a hybrid image

The upcoming Koenigsegg Regera megacar will be a hybrid and it is said to become the fastest accelerating production vehicle ever.

The successor of the Bugatti Veyron is in danger along with the current variants of the hypercar and the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1 because Koenigsegg has some fixed figures in its plans of producing yet another megacar, after the One:1, which will be called the Regera. According to the guys from EVO, the vehicle in question will become the most powerful and fastest accelerating production car ever and it will be a completely new model, different to the Agera.

According to our source, the brand new Koenigsegg Regera will be packing in a petrol engine under its hood which will be backed up by an electric motor providing an extra 690 HP (515 kW). By comparison, the electric motor of the McLaren P1 is generating just 177 HP. We are not sure on the total output produced by the powertrain but this being considered a megacar, it will be more powerful than the One:1, with its 1,341 HP.

The new Koenigsegg Regera is expected to shed some dust onto the current One:1 which is capable of reaching no less than 400 km/h (248 mph) in just 20 seconds, putting the Veyron into the shadows. More details on the new megacar are limited for the moment and will be announced on the 3rd of March, during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, when it will be officially unveiled.
