After a proper teasing campaign, Ford unveiled a few days ago the latest version of the Shelby GT350 Mustang and now the company has publicly unveiled the model in front of the audience attending the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The legendary model returns in time to secure its top position among the new generation’s lineup, and of course the main feature of interest for the model is the high-revving naturally aspirated V8 5.2-liter engine. Featuring a flat-plane crankshaft for the first time in a Ford V8, the engine should be the most powerful ever created by the automaker when it comes to naturally aspirated powerhouses. Without final specifications out yet, the second-largest US automaker claims the new V8 is capable of unleashing at least 500 bhp and a maximum torque of more than 400 lb-ft (542 Nm). All that might goes to the rear wheels via a Torsen limited slip differential and a standard six-speed manual transmission.
The Shelby GT350 Mustang can be optionally fitted with a “Track Pack” that enhances overall performance via perks such as engine oil cooler and transmission oil cooler. Owners get as standard equipment a new aluminum hood, bespoke 19-inch alloys equipped with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires specifically customized for the model. Brembo brakes take care of safety and the utterly aggressive and aerodynamic body kit can swiftly identify the Shelby.
Inside the cabin, the GT350 Mustang gets Recaro sport seats, unique gauges and the chromed or shiny surfaces have been reduced to reduce sun glare. The optional Tech Pack brings electric seats covered in leather, dual-zone climate control system, Shaker Audio and the well-known eight-inch MyTouch Ford infotainment system.
