The Japanese automaker unveiled during the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show the US Spec version of the iconic Mazda MX-5 Miata.
Following the recent world unveiling of the latest generation of the legendary roadster, the guys at Mazda decided to reveal the official version heading towards its most important market worldwide – the United States. According to Mazda, the new MX-5 Miata “delivers true driving pleasure and is an irreplaceable partner for the people on board” after it has “steadily evolved in a way that is only possible thanks to an unchanging passion shared between Mazda and countless MX-5 owners and fans around the world.”
The US-Spec version is unchanged design-wise from the other models globally available, but it would only be offered (for the time-being) with a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine – and unfortunately the specifications have not been revealed yet. The smaller 1.5-liter variant is not available in the North American region and the 2.0-liter is mated to a Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual transmission.
The rest f the data sheet remains unchanged: double wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, electric power assisted steering and dimensions reduced by 105 mm (length) and 20 mm (height) from the outgoing generation. It’s also 10 mm wider and 100 kgs (220lbs) lighter.
