Jaguar has recently announced that its 2012 XKR-S Convertible has been sold out and in fact, the model has been sold out before it was officially presented at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
According to the car manufacturer, production allocated for the United States has been set for just 25 units and they will be delivered to their new customers in early 2012. The Jaguar XKR-S has been sold out even before the model has made its worldwide debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show and until now it seems to be the fastest vehicle its ever sold, wearing the Jaguar badge on it.
Jaguar says that its newest drop-top, the XKR-S, is powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine which is developing a total output of 542 horsepower and has a peak torque of 680 Nm (501 lb-ft), mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The XKR-S can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.2 seconds, while the 0 to 62 (100 km/h) acceleration time takes 4.4 seconds.
The XKR-S’s top speed is 186 mph or 300 km/h. The Jaguar XKR-S is going against rivals like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster, the Porsche 991 GT2 and the Aston Martin, for a total price of 138.875 USD.
