The North American based automaker Ford is planning to reveal its 2013 Shelby GT500 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, offering it with bot a Performance Package and a Track Package which should be more than enough for the model to become your new favorite muscle car.
According to Ford, the new Shelby GT500 is powered by a 5.8 liter aluminum-block supercharged V8 engine which is developing a total output of 650 horsepower and has a peak torque of 600 lb-ft (813 Nm), mated to an upgraded six-speed manual transmission. The new Shelby GT500 has a top speed of 200 mph or 322 km/h but Ford doesn’t say anything about the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time.
“SVT keeps the Shelby GT500 on the cutting edge of technology and takes the muscle car performance to new heights. We encapsulated every aspect of performance in this car, whether it’s 0-60, top speed, race track or quarter mile times. Beyond that, the daily driver also will find this car perfectly fits his or her needs”, said the director of Global Performance Vehicles and Motorsport Business development, Jost Capito.
Ford is offering for the 2013 Shelby GT500 the optional Performance package which will pack the Torsen limited-slip differential, which will help the rear suspension deliver maximum torque and traction better and longer under track condition, which, along with the Launch Control and the Brembo braking system, should put a smile on your face.
