LA Auto Show: Aston Martin Vanquish S image

The British automaker is delivering the swan song for the current generation in the form of the “S” version premiering on front of the worldwide audience of the LA Auto Show.

The Vanquish S comes with a sportier styling combined with a raft of technical enhancements for more power and performance – setting it apart from the regular version. This is of course the most enhanced Vanquish to date, with a wide array of enhancements for the aerodynamics, engine, chassis, suspension, and brakes to create “a machine honed to deliver more intense thrills and even more scintillating performance.” The design gets a new carbon fiber front splitter and rear diffuser, which also reduce front lift. There are also new quad exhaust pipes, while customers can pay extra to gain carbon fiber bonnet louvres, new forged five-spoke diamond turned wheels, and some graphic pack options.

The cabin has been adorned with the new Filograph leather upholstery, as well as a choice of new materials and Vanquish S embroidery on the headrests. The refreshed 6.0-liter, V12 engine arrives at the party with 580 horsepower (433 kilowatts) and delivers “sensational throttle response,” thanks to the modified intake system with bigger volume inlet manifolds for “a relentless power delivery and a stronger feel all the way to the redline.” There’s also a recalibrated eight-speed automatic gearbox, a stiffer suspension setting with improved damper internals, spring rates, and anti-roll bar bushes. Deliveries kick off in December with prices starting at a cool $312,950.
