There’s an all-new engine and meaner look for the G80 executive sedan so the Sport version will warrant the spotlights of the Los Angeles Auto Show presentation.
The Genesis brand is looking to expand its model offering with the arrival of the Genesis G80 3.3T Sport at the Californian event, a performance upgrade for the standard model. Starting with the design we noticed an overhauled front end with Sport-aggressive credentials. There’s a subtle copper-colored trim surrounding the dark chrome grille that helps it distinguish from the regular model, alongside the additional vents in the bumper. The side benefits from new 19-inch dark alloy wheels and there are also new color options to compliment the aero body kit – Casablanca White, Caspian Black, and Himalayan Grey get next to the Sport’s exclusive Polar Ice and Sevilla Red.
The interior features leather sport seats and a leather-coated sport steering wheel, aluminum pedals, microfiber suede headliner, matte wood finish, and even a carbon fiber trim. Techies get the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as wireless charging capabilities. Under the hood sits a 3.3-liter biturbo V6 with a meaty 365 horsepower (272 kilowatts) and 376 pound-feet (277 newton-meters) of torque. The new engine also gets a reworked version of the previously available eight-speed automatic transmission, and there are also tweaked rear brakes with ventilated discs.
