LA Auto Show – Mercedes teases the SL update ahead of introduction image

The last major automotive event of the year – the Los Angeles Auto Show – is right around the corner, so Mercedes-Benz wants to end the calendar with a bang – meaning it would showcase the facelifted SL.

The massive SL will most likely be updated to sport a dynamic exterior design akin to the AMG GT and the teaser showcases the large roadster receiving an inverted diamond grille, new pair of LED front lights and a modified front bumper that will keep the SL fresh for a while. While the teaser only depicts the front fascia, we already know from rumors the side and rear will feel less the touch of the designers with modified all-red taillight styling and some very subtle updates to the rear bumper. Naturally we’re expecting at least mild revisions to the cabin as well where we might encounter new upholstery and trim options and a considerate update of the infotainment system to the latest iteration. Speaking of Mercedes-Benz here, technical and safety goodies should also be on the menu, alongside more optional equipment to make sure the owner will spend an arm and a leg on this high-end roadster.

Most reports point to an unchanged engine lineup and chassis configuration, with the top offering being the SL63 with its V8 5.5-liter twin-turbo powerhouse – but all details should be revealed on November 17 when the Los Angeles Auto Show starts with the press previews.
