A Lamborghini Aventador supercar has recently burst into flames on a highway in the United States for no obvious reasons.
When writing about supercar crashes or fires we are usually used to saying that it happened because the driver has pushed the gas pedal too hard and his/her lack of experience lead to an unfortunate event. But this isn’t the case here because we’re talking about a Lamborghini Aventador and we all know that Lamborghinis have a mind of their own. Witnesses said that the Italian supercar in question was travelling at high speed and the rear left tire caught fire, which lead to massive flames. The driver managed to get out of the car and no one was hurt.
As a reminder, the two-door, two-seater sports car is powered by a 6.5 liter V12 engine which is developing a total output of 690 horsepower and it’s being mated to a seven-speed single clutch transmission. The Italian automaker says that the Aventador can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and it has a top speed of 349 km/h (217 mph). According to the manufacturer, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is burning an average of 17.2 liters of fuel every 100 km (13.5 mpg) and the supercar is emitting 398 g/km of CO2. The suggested retail price in Europe for the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is 255.000 EUR (379.700 USD).
