The Italian based automaker Lamborghini is planning to unveil the Aventador Roadster in 2013 and the model is expected to go on sale right after that.
The Lamborghini Aventador Roadster has been already caught on the streets by spy photographers and the fact that the company is working on it is no surprise anymore, but what comes as a surprise is that the carmaker is planning to unveil it next year. Rumor has it that the engine cover of the model will be the same and this has been confirmed by spy photos. This means that the roof won’t retract into a rear compartment and the driver will probably have to manually remove it after stepping out of the vehicle.
The drop top version of the Italian supercar will most likely get the same engine under its hood as the regular Aventador coupe, the 6.5 liter V12, which is developing a total output of 690 horsepower and it’s being mated to a seven-speed single clutch transmission. The Italian automaker says that the Aventador can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and it has a top speed of 349 km/h (217 mph). According to the manufacturer, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is burning an average of 17.2 liters of fuel every 100 km (13.5 mpg) and the supercar is emitting 398 g/km of CO2. Official details on the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster will be announced next year.
