The Italian based automaker Lamborghini is planning to produce a new model in order to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.
According to the carmaker’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini will introduce a limited edition supercar in order to celebrate 50 years since the company has been around. Winkelmann said that this model “will not be a revival or retro” and in fact it will be a very special model with a one-off design which might even hit the market as a limited edition. Rumors are saying that the supercar in question might be a limited edition of the Aventador or even the production version of the Sesto Elemento.
The last special Lamborghini supercar was named the Aventador J Speedster and it was officially presented to the public earlier this year, during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The model came with a 6.5 liter V12 engine, producing 690 BHP and 690 Nm of torque (509 lb-ft). The unit was mated to the carmaker’s Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) transmission which sent power to the permanent all-wheel drive system. The model was 4,890 mm ling, 2,030 mm wide and 1,110 mm tall. Prices for the Aventador J Speedster were set at 2,2 million euros. The new Lamborghini supercar is expected to be introduced at the 50th Anniversary Grand Tour in Sant’Agata Bolognese on the 11th of May, 2013.
