The Italian based automaker Lamborghini is planning to introduce a new model based on its popular Gallardo, where the supercar will be named the LP550-2 Spyder and, just as its name says, it will be a drop top version, similar in setup to the 550-2 Valentino Balboni Edition.
According to teamspeed.com, Lamborghini will soon introduce the Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder and just as Pagani did with its Zonda, saying that every model of the supercar will be the last one and changing its mind on the way, the “Raging Bull” apparently caught the virus from the competition.
Even if there are no official words yet about the new Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder, Lamborghini is expected to get inspired from the 550-2 Valentino Balboni Edition, out of which only 250 units were ever made, named after the automaker’s test driver.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder is expected to have a rear-wheel drive setup and the supercar might be powered by the 5.2 liter V10 engine which is developing 550 HP.
As a reminder, the Lamborghini Gallardo has been in production ever since 2003 and the supercar is coming in two body styles, two-door coupe and two-door spyder, having a mid-engine, four-wheel drive layout, with the Balboni edition coming with rear-wheel drive.
