Lamborghini putting Asterion on hold, focusing on Urus image

Lamborghini’s plans of producing the Asterion have been put on hold for the moment as the company is currently focusing on the development of the Urus SUV.

What should have been the official competitor of the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1, the so-called Lamborghini Asterion, will have to wait a while until it will be hitting the assembly line as this has been currently put on hold in favor of the development of the Urus SUV. The announcement hasn’t been made official at this point and it is nothing more than a simple report which has been signed by Autocar.

The Lamborghini Asterion should cost around 350,000 GBP and the one-off model made use of the 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, rated at 610 HP, backed up by 3 electric motors generating an extra 300 HP. The total output stands at 910 HP (669 kW) and it needs less than 3 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph), being able to reach 320 km/h (199 mph). The Lamborghini Urus on the other hand will be a production SUV which will go against similar models made by Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The vehicle is going to be produced in Italy as the country’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi is offering up to 100 million euros in tax breaks and other benefits. The offer might actually be even more impressive as the Italian government wants to keep the production of the SUV at home.
