Lamborghini is preparing itself to build its ultra-lightweight Sesto Elemento for the track only with up to 20 copies.
The car will be priced as for now at $2.9 million. As per the Autocar magazine of Britain, the 2010 Paris Auto Show car is in the advanced stages as far as the development is concerned. From 0-60 the Sesto Elemento will successfully make a sprint in less than 2.5 seconds, which will be enough to stay next to Bugatti Veyron. This entire credit goes to its race-ready version of the 5.2 liter V10 engine of Gallardo, which is very low on weight.
The CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann is firmly saying that the production track-day car will weigh less than 1,000 kg just like the original concept. The weigh will be under 2,200 pounds and for that he thanks its advanced carbon-fiber construction as well as bare-bones cockpit. The 2010 Paris Auto Show concept car’s production version will maintain its weight at sub-2,200 pound.
In comparison, the ultra-lightweight Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera weighs just over 2,950 pounds.
