Lamborghini to start Urus production in 3 years image

Lamborghini will put the Urus SUV into production in three years as the model in question will become a high-end vehicle in its segment.

The announcement has been made by the company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, during the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, who said that the Urus SUV will be hitting the market in 2017. Little can be said about its design considering the fact that it’s three years away but it will get some design tweaks which will immediately tell you that this is a Lamborghini. The vehicle will share some of the underpinnings with the upcoming Bentley SUV.

The Lamborghini Urus Concept has been officially presented to the public during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. Initial rumors were saying that the model, in its final production form, will be taking its power from a 6.0 liter W12 engine, borrowed from Bentley, or even from a smaller 4.0 liter V8. The production Urus SUV should ride on the same platform as the Bentley EXP 9 F and this will help the model weigh less than 2,000 kg (4,400 lbs). Additional details on the Lamborghini Urus are limited for the moment.
