Lamborghini will decide this year whether or not it will put the Urus SUV into production, as the company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has recently announced.
The Lamborghini Urus production will be decided this year by the company’s officials and a final decision should be taken over the following months. If it gets the green light, the Lamborghini Urus SUV is expected to hit the market by 2017.
“By the end of this year we have to decide. There is no delay at this stage because it was never planned to come before 2017. But we have to decide this year if we want to maintain the target”, as Stephan Winkelmann said during a press conference.
If it makes it into production, the Lamborghini Urus SUV will ride on the same platform as the Bentley EXP 9 F production, the Volkswagen Touareg, the Porsche Cayenne or the Audi Q7, which will be made out of steel and it will help the crossover to weigh around 4,400 lbs (1,996). The final production version of the Lamborghini Urus Concept is expected to hit the market sometimes in 2017 and it will be powered by the new 6.0 liter W12 engine borrowed from Bentley, or by the smaller 4.0 liter V8. Prices for the model should be set at 200,000 USD. Additional details on the Urus will be announced close to its launch.
