Lamborghini’s first SUV is going to be launched by 2018 as an insider has recently revealed.
Ever since it was introduced a couple of years ago, in Beijing, in a concept form under the Urus name, everyone was asking when this will hit the market in its final production version. Well, the answer to this question may have been answered as according to the guys at Autocar, the Lamborghini SUV will be launched by 2018. Our source has had a chat with Rupert Stadler, the Audi boss, who has admitted that the four-ring company is developing the new SUV along with a new family of similar models, including the new Q7, the next Cayenne or the Bentley SUV.
The Lamborghini Urus is believed to share a lot of underpinnings with the upcoming Bentley SUV but the design between the two vehicles will be completely different. As far as the engine lineup goes, chances are this will include a large 6.0 liter W12 along with a smaller 4.0 liter V8, again, borrowed from Bentley. The same platform will be used between the two SUVs too and this will help the new Lamborghini model weigh less than 2,000 kg (4,400 lbs), which should be reflected into its performance and fuel consumption.
