Lamborghini is planning to launch the final production version of the Urus SUV in 2017, and the model will ride on the new generation of the MLB platform.
With Bentley not sure on producing its SUV just yet and Jaguar Land Rover planning to move the Range Rover upmarket in order to compete with it, another luxury SUV is ending up in our news, this time signed by Lamborghini. According to the Audi’s boss, Rupert Stadler, the final production version of the Lamborghini Urus will be seen in late 2016 and it should become available to its future customers in 2017.
“Lamborghini has to do it. Because of the need to dovetail into production cycles, we should see the Urus in 2017”, as Stadler told Autocar.
If it makes it into production, the Lamborghini Urus SUV will ride on the same platform as the Bentley EXP 9 F production, the Volkswagen Touareg, the Porsche Cayenne or the Audi Q7, which will be made out of steel and it will help the crossover to weigh around 4,400 lbs (1,996). Power to the model will be provided by a 4.0 liter V8 and by an engine borrowed from Bentley, the 6.0 liter W12.
