The 500th and last Ferrari LaFerrari will be sold at an upcoming auction and the proceeds will be redirected towards the reconstruction of the areas in Central Italy that were severely hit by the recent earthquakes.
The company actually planned on manufacturing just 499 units of the flagship hypercar LaFerrari in coupe guise, but they decided to restart the process for one last example in order to aid the victims of the powerful earthquakes that hit central Italy this year. Thus all money obtained from the sale will be donated after the December 3 event set up by RM Sotheby’s and the National Italian American Foundation’s Earthquake Relief Fund. And to make things even more enticing, the venue for the auction will be the Ferrari Finali Mondiali at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
You don’t have to be there – although it’s guaranteed to be worth the trouble of actually being there for the entire event – because the organizers also accept remote bidding options. For sure the LaFerrari will be sold at a huge premium compared to its regular retail price in the United States of around $1.4 million. This special final LaFerrari also has unique touches such as custom livery and cabin paying homage to its home country with the Italian tricolor flag on the nose and a special plaque on the inside.
