Apollo Automobil GmbH – the automaker that we knew in the past as Gumpert – is going about its new business and has released new images that tease us to the approaching introduction of the ApolloN during the Geneva Motor Show next week.
The exotic specialty marquee claims it has managed to develop and design “the fastest road car on the planet”, which is kind of intriguing since we all know the Veyron Super Sports is the current title holder of that distinction. And we’re also intrigued by the bold claim since the ApolloN will be showcased in Geneva next to the Bugatti Chiron – which is rumored to be ready to top that spectacular 290 miles (467 kilometers) per hour maximum speed. And even if that doesn’t pan out at first, we’re betting the Chiron will hit a top velocity of more than 260 mph (418 km/h) since the Veyron Super Sport WRE was electronically-limited at 258 mph (415 km/h). ApolloN, the ball is in your court now.
Back to the ApolloN teasers, these are the most revealing we’ve had so far – they depict the rear deck lid with a carbon fiber roof scoop and central spine. There’s also a rear wing aiming to increase downforce at the rear wheels and in another teaser picture you’ll see the massive carbon fiber front splitter. Those front air intakes are also made from the same lightweight and strong material and the lightweight center locking wheels are wrapped in high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
