Well known Hong Kong actor and stuntman Jackie Chan is the latest in a long list of A-list stars that became involved in the 24-hour classic.
In earnest, if you followed the career of the movie star you might know about his passion for motorsport and as a side note we can tell you Chan is also a founding partner in the BAXI DC Racing team that has already managed to dominate the LMP3 class of the Asian Le Mans Series during the 2015/16 season. His team, which also now participates in the FIA World Endurance Championship, has also been listed on the 24 Hours of Le Mans roster for this year’s edition. The team will be using an Alpine A460- Nissan, which apparently features an Oreca 05 chassis, rebadged as the Alpine – and will also receive support from Signatech Alpine. They are not going to compete in the queen class, the LMP1, but in the immediate follower – the LMP2.
And unlike other Hollywood celebrities that tried their hand from inside the competing vehicles – such as Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and, more recently, Patrick Dempsey – Jackie will leave the driving to others. Mainly team co-owner David Cheng and driver Ho-Pin Tung, with a third driver to be announced at a later date. The third entry is not expected to be Chan because he doesn’t have all the proper licenses to play in the big leagues – in turn he is expected to be present at all events to monitor his team.
