Le Mans: Nissan ZEOD RC – the fastest electric racing car image

Nissan, one of the largest electric carmakers in the world has just unveiled its ZEOD RC project – the first electric racing car that can reach speeds over 300km/h.

Similar somehow to the “old” Nissan DeltaWing, (ZEOD RC comes with a closed cockpit) the concept vehicle was designed to evaluate some advanced technologies that according to the Japanese automaker “will form part of future innovations for Nissan road cars”

“The Nissan ZEOD RC is a natural progression that follows on from the development of the Nissan Leaf road car and the Leaf RC race car prototype. The technologies developed through the ZEOD RC program will form part of future innovations for Nissan road cars.

The automaker will commence testing the concept later in summer 2013, so we will not be able to see this vehicle racing during the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours Endurance Championship; but race fans will have the opportunity to see the car in the public area of the Circuit de la Sarthe.

Last year, during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the DeltaWing retired after 75 laps following an accident in which the concept vehicle ran into a concrete barrier at the Porsche Curves after a collision with Kazuki Nakajima’s Toyota TS030 Hybrid.
