The North American International Auto Show in Detroit is starting on January 11 but the Mercedes E Class decided to make us happy as the official gallery has been leaked.
This is not your regular game of playing camouflage practice with the spy photographers, these are the official pictures. Anyways this massive leak was not entirely unexpected given the amount of hype that has surrounded the E Class (W213) executive sedan for quite some time. Thus, we’re not going to wait the official debut taking place in the US to pass judgment on the next generation E Class and we can call it a day to the months of spy shots, spy footage, renders, teasers and leaks. There aren’t any actual surprises here, as the company has employed a crossover of evolutionary designs: the side profile closely resembles the past generation while the front and back look like a stretched out C Class – or a reduced S Class, it’s entirely up to you to have the perspective. The front comes with a massive grille and the now traditional set of slender headlights – and we’re also taking note of the aggressive front bumper with double large air intakes and a sleek lip-spoiler in between. The back comes with chrome (most likely depending on version) in between the LED taillights and a dual exhaust system setup.
The German report goes on to say the saloon is 193.8-inches long and comes with a very low drag-coefficient of 0.23. Reports pick the newly developed 2.0-liter diesel unit, developing 195 horsepower, to have been picked to be present at launch. The E 220d version will have an average fuel economy of 3.9 liters per 100 km (60.3 mpg) and the petrol side will deliver the 2.0-liter turbo for the E200 version. An E 350e plug-in hybrid should come up next making use of a 2.0 turbo/ electric motor combo for a combined power of 279 hp. Other engines should be the new diesel versions sporting 150 and 258 hp while the gasoline range will span between 183 hp and 333 hp.
